KILL ME - The Short Film

Her name is Abuela. She's old. Her family mistreats her. The only man she has ever loved is dead. And now, she wants to join him.

There's only one problem: this granny's got a lot of life left in her.

Living with her complacent, weak-willed daughter, her overbearing son-in-law, and her two obnoxious, bratty grandsons, Abuela has had enough.  She wants to join her wild and adventurous husband Enrique in the great hereafter.

Abuela views suicide is a sin. Rather than risk the chance to be with her husband and eternal damnation, she must find someone to murder her.  Abuela resorts to the only option available: devise a plan to get someone to kill her.

KILL ME is a dark comedy short about a fiesty latina grandmother who desperately wants to die. KILL ME - The Concept

KILL ME is a short film with intentions of becoming a feature length movie.

Although there are certain strong themes and hopes coursing through this story, the main intent is to entertain with a mature, funny and poignant movie.  While the story itself weaves strong themes of family, love and religion throughout the plot, the main attraction is the central character, Abuela. KILL ME is her story.

Damon Silvester (writer/director) and Vinay Chand (producer) seek to grasp a wide audience with a story that contains unconventionally charismatic characters and interesting plot twists while throwing in a bit of fun.  By utilizing these elements in unison with one another, a very unique and compelling story is born.

For an example of this recipe, please see the award-winning short film "Aroma" (below) written and directed by Damon Silvester (duration: 3 mins)

Damon and Vinay are utilizing this unique story to further their directing and producing pursuits. Once the film is completed,  it will be shown in festivals and to production companies and agents which will launch the feature version.

The road is long and difficult, but perseverance, talent and positive attitudes will prevail.

Thank you for taking the journey with us.

KILL ME - Behind The Idea

Ageism, sexism and racism are concepts and realities which consistently enter the Hollywood movie industry. Although these topics have been addressed ad nauseum in texts and through social forums, the Hollywood machine has yet to produce content which adequately breaks the common stereotypes regarding age, gender and race.

KILL ME seeks to right these injustices. This is not a boring documentary with talking heads discussing the merits of "The Feminine Mystique" or  Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man." This is a grab-hold-of-your-seat, enjoy-the-ride, break-the-rules film starring an 85 year old grandmother as the main character.

KILL ME is being produced by Vinay Chand and written/directed by Damon Silvester and tells the story of a grandmother who desperately wants to die, but cannot find anyone to assist her. Mature in theme and fun in execution, this film strives to show that film has no age, race or gender when it comes to entertaining storytelling.
